My name is Barry Sanders.  I am a Masters level clinical social worker whose practice is focused on persons with serious and persistent mental illness.  I see the impact shame and stigma has on my clients and throughout our communities.  I have been using a practice called Compassion Focused Therapy to address these issues as well as anxiety, depression and voice hearing.

I have a strong passion for social justice and try to include compassion based strategies in my community work as well.  I work with the Taunton Opiate and Substance Use Task Force and am an elected member of the Taunton City Council.

A healthy work-life balance is key to sustaining long term effective engagement with other people’s needs and suffering.

In May 2018, my wife Kristie and I bought a Keystone Hideout 5th wheel RV.  Now we, along with our 15 year old Shih Tzu, Penny, are embracing the RV life.  There is much to learn and many great experiences to have getting out of our routines and embracing a slower pace – at least on weekends and the occasional longer trip.
